Digital-Twin Infrastructure Science
for Operations and Visualization
in Engineering Resilience
The Discover Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh aims to advance research in the field of digital twin modeling and multiscale computational simulation of materials and structures. Our research focuses on characterizing the physical phenomena occurring at multiple time and length scales to predict degradation in large-scale infrastructure systems. We employ advanced remote and in-situ sensing to augment the computational models and perform rigorous assessment of civil infrastructure systems. Advanced visualization techniques (AR/VR/Holographic Models) are leveraged in the research, allowing for a new generation of tools for the design, operation, maintenance, and retrofitting of horizontal and vertical civil infrastructure.
