The CLASS laboratory at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Pittsburgh is advancing research in the field of numerical and experimental characterization of the life cycle behavior of composite materials, such as concrete, metals and reinforced polymers. We use multiscale modeling techniques in combination with experimental investigations to gather a deeper understanding on how structures work at different length and time scales and deliver tools to predict their life cycle and failure response.
