Digital Twin Modeling of Climate Adaptive Vertical Infrastructure
Climate adaptation and mitigation is of critical importance for the safety and wellbeing of communities throughout the United States. While there has been much discussion on the potential benefits of employing digital twin approaches to unlock climate adaptation and mitigation strategies, this potential is only realized when complex data streams and diverse modeling platforms are leveraged and integrated by means of appropriate predictive tools.

Our vision is to develop, implement, and validate novel Digital Twin approaches for real-time uncertainty quantification and prediction of greenhouse gas emissions of climate-adaptive vertical infrastructure. This approach allows for a holistic assessment of the short- and long-term performance of civil infrastructure systems, by analyzing all the structural and non-structural elements at the level of the constituent materials and assessing how environmental adaptivity can be leveraged to optimize such performance over time.
